Looking for Ream Constance Hoxie (Hoxsie)

Ream had only one sibling, a younger brother named Ralph and I lucked out and found him. He died in 1973, but he had two children, one who died last year (sadly) but it looks like his son is still alive and living in Connecticut. I’m going to try to call him tomorrow.

I went uptown to take a picture of the building where Ream died. On the subway uptown I planned all the things I’d say to try to gain entrance to the building so I could do a before and after, using the crime scene photograph below. But where the building once stood is now a park. Maybe that’s better.

UPDATE: Ream Constance Hoxie update here.

  1. Ms. Horn,
I am hoping this book will come to fruition. I can’t tell you how much it would mean to me, one of Ralph’s grandaughters, to know more about this part of our history. Thank you for not letting Ream be forgotten. I think I like the park better too.

  2. Ms Horn,
After reading the story of what happened to Ream, it’s far beyond disturbing and I can not believe how disinterested the police seemed to be, which makes it even more troubling for me because I am also a granddaughter of Ralph’s. I would love to help in any way at all if I could. Like my sister has said, It would mean alot to my family. Thank you for not being able to get her out of your head. I also like the park scene,a nice lovely & strong tree right in the middle, just like the Hoxie women..

  3. Rhonda, I’m not writing a book actually, this was for me. And for Ream. I never forgot her and I wanted to try to find out who she was and what happened.

Also, the police weren’t disinterested. They seemed very upset by Ream’s murder. For years afterward, whenever a girl or young woman was murdered they would try and see if this person was also Ream’s murderer. I’ll explain in my next post why I believe her case went cold.

I’m looking for a cousin of hers named Jess. I think her last name was Ward, but I’m not positive.
